We've Got the Equipment

When it comes to tree care, one of the most common things we hear is, “We’ve been meaning to take care of this tree…” If that sounds familiar, consider this your sign to stop talking about it and just do it. Believe it or not, winter is actually one of the best times of year to tackle tree work - especially with the right crew and the right equipment.

Since the 1970s, advances in equipment and technology have made tree care safer, more efficient, and more precise than ever before. Modern tools, such as portable lifts, grapple saw trucks, articulating loaders, and advanced chippers, enable us to reach new heights, protect your property, keep our crew members safe, and reduce costs. One customer even calls us “the best man/machine show” he’s ever seen.

The Right Equipment for Projects Big and Small

At Hoppe Tree Service, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every property, every tree, and every job is different - which is why we invest in specialized equipment designed to handle it all. From large removals to tight backyard pruning, our fleet is built to work efficiently, safely, and with minimal impact on your yard.

Here’s a look at some of the equipment we may bring to your property.

Reaching New Heights (and Tight Spaces)

Our lift equipment enables our crews to safely access trees of all sizes, even in areas with limited space. With machines that can reach up to 90 feet, we’re able to handle large, complex trees while staying nimble enough to navigate smaller residential properties. The tracked designs help reduce ground pressure, allowing us to work where traditional equipment simply can’t.

Heavy Lifting, Done the Smart Way

For large or hazardous tree removals, our grapple saw truck is a true game-changer. A grapple saw can grasp large branches or entire tree trunks, cut them precisely, and move the section directly to the chipper - all while the arborist remains safely on the ground, operating the saw and telescoping knuckle boom with a remote control. Hoppe uses a Palfinger Tree Mek with an impressive 112-foot vertical reach and 102-foot horizontal reach, capable of lifting nearly 2,000 pounds and rotating a full 360 degrees. The advanced equipment allows our crews to remove entire trees efficiently in an extremely controlled and safe manner, often without the need for extensive climbing or rigging. The result? Safer crews, faster removals, and less disruption to your property.

Powerful Loaders & Clean Worksites

Articulating loaders have been a big help for our tree crew once the cutting is done, stepping in to move heavy wood and debris quickly and efficiently. These machines can lift hundreds of pounds, easily transporting branches and trunks to the chipper or trucks while reducing the need for manual lifting. Their advanced maneuverability allows our team to work in tight spaces, and their light footprint helps protect your lawn, driveway, and landscaping by minimizing turf damage and soil compaction - important for healthy tree roots and proper water and nutrient uptake. By taking on the heavy work, our loaders reduce wear and tear on our crews and help lower the risk of injury from fatigue or lifting heavy limbs. You may have even seen Hoppe’s green Avant articulating loaders showing off their 360s in local parades!

When Climbing Is the Best Solution

Even with all of today’s advanced equipment, rope and harness climbing is sometimes the best way to get tree care work done. Not every tree requires large machinery, and in certain situations, skilled climbing offers the safest and most effective solution. Hoppe’s crew members are experienced climbers who use top-rated equipment and continually train on climbing safety - because reaching the treetops takes both the right gear and the right expertise.

Why Winter Is the Perfect Time for Tree Work

If you’ve been waiting for “the right time”, winter might surprise you.

  • Dormant gardens and lawns mean less impact on lawns and landscaping

  • Frozen or firm ground can help reduce soil compaction

  • Better visibility without leaves makes structural issues easier to spot

  • Flexible scheduling before the busy spring season arrives

Simply put, winter tree work sets you up for a safer, healthier, and better-looking landscape come spring.
