Insect and Disease Treatments
Soil injection is a great way to deliver long lasting nutrients, or soil insecticide products right to the root systems of trees. Products are mixed in a water based solution and pumped into the root zone using a pressurized system. Hoppe Tree Service uses this approach to perform fertilizer applications. This treatment option provides a more even coverage than using tree spikes or granular products. Soil injection also works well for delivering long lasting systemic control against pests that do their damage internally within the cambium layer of trees. This includes insects such as bronze birch borer, plum, linden or emerald ash borer.
Soil systemic insecticides... Annually applied treatments to protect against damaging insect pests such as the emerald ash borer insect, or bronze birch borer insect. Treatments are injected into the root system using a soil probe.
Trunk injections... This method is used when strong products are needed with quick uptake.Trunk injections involve small injection sites drilled into the trunk of trees to deliver insecticides, fungicides or nutrients. Trunk injections offer a stronger more direct way to get products into trees than soil treatments. Injections take place at the cambium layer and then products are distributed throughout the vascular system of the tree. Treatments work quickly and are long lasting. Trunk injections provide multiple season control and often work best for larger diameter trees. Hoppe Tree Service uses trunk injection to fight against insects and nutrient deficiencies. Studies have continued to show that trunk injections can provide multiyear protection against Emerald Ash Borer. Trunk injections can also be used to deliver fungicides that can protect against Dutch elm disease, Oak wilt Disease, verticillium wilt,
Foliar sprays... Applications are sprayed onto the leaf surfaces to protect against fungal pathogens and leaf chewing or sucking insects. Often times spray programs consist of 2-3 applications throughout the season.Foliar applications can be very effective at providing protection against fungus diseases that affect leaves and needles. Common diseases such as apple scab disease on crab apple trees, and needlecast diseases on spruce trees are most often treated by using foliar applications. Treatments are applied to the leaf/needle surfaces as a protectant prior to infection. Treatments can wear off through the course of the season and are often reapplied with multiple applications through the course of the season.
Below Ground Root Health Treatments
BioPak root care fertilization... Soil injection fertilization includes beneficial root zone bacteria and balanced slow release fertilizer mixture. Promotes plant recovery from stress, reverses mineral deficiencies that cause poor color, and promotes growth for new and old trees.
Root aeration... Our air spade blows compressed air into the root system of the tree to lighten and aerate the soil. This increases the porosity of the soil structure and makes the soil profile more favorable for growth of fine nutrient and water absorbing roots.
Girdling root removal... Stem girdling roots slowly strangle trees to death. We excavate around the trunk of the tree and remove the offending roots to give the tree a chance of survival.
